How Do Orthodontists Create a Treatment Plan for Each Patient?

Beginning orthodontic treatment is a huge step in your oral health journey. One of the first phases in helping you start your smile journey is crafting your treatment plan, but how do orthodontists make a personalized plan for each patient? Our team at Koerich Orthodontics is here to share each step we take, from your initial evaluation and discussions to your treatment options.

Creating Your Treatment Plan

Your Orthodontic Evaluation

In crafting each patient’s unique treatment plan, we take different assessments and photographs to learn as much as possible about the current condition of your teeth and how to achieve the perfect positioning. We will begin by sitting down to discuss your medical and dental history so we can understand what work, if any, has been done in the past and how those procedures can inform our decision.

Dr. Lindsey or Dr. Leo will then take digital photographs and conduct an oral examination to take note of orthodontic issues visible on the surface. Following this, a digital impression and x-rays are taken of your teeth to get a better picture of your teeth’ development and how everything connects below the surface.

Discussing Your Treatment Plan

Once we have finished evaluating your teeth, Dr. Lindsey or Dr. Leo will discuss what issues were found, our available treatment options, a cost breakdown, how long treatment will take, and much more. This is your time to ask all of your questions so your unique treatment plan can be crafted as specific to your case as possible.

Considering Budget and Cost

Thinking about your budget when reviewing your treatment plan is essential. The price of each appliance is one part of your cost breakdown; the kind of work you need accomplished and the current condition of your teeth affect the price as well. During your free consultation, Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Leo will discuss each factor of your final cost with you and how it contributes to your investment.

We are committed to staying transparent with our patients and ensuring they understand the financials behind treatment so there are no surprises later on. To keep care as accessible as possible for our community, our team will additionally discuss our flexible payment plans and how your dental insurance is incorporated.

Learning Your Treatment Goals

One of our top priorities at Koerich Orthodontics is learning each patient’s smile goals. Everyone’s needs and desires are different coming into treatment, so we take our time to discuss what you want out of your care, such as aesthetics preferences and whether you would like a fixed or removable appliance.

Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Leo do their best to incorporate as much as possible into your treatment plan while ensuring it remains efficient. Considering the average treatment time is between one and three years, we believe it is important that you feel confident wearing your appliance!

Treatment Options

Invisalign

Available for teens and adults, Invisalign clear aligners are a subtle treatment that no one will notice you are wearing! This appliance is a modern approach to the smile journey, and we are excited to offer it to our patients. They use a series of clear, custom-fit plastic trays that stay on your teeth for at least 22 hours daily and are switched out for a new set every two weeks.

We use the latest technology in our office, so Dr. Lindsey and Dr. Leo can predict precisely how your teeth will shift and make minute changes to your trays before you use them so they end up where you want them to.

InBrace Hidden Treatment

If you want to work on your teeth but are not interested in a traditional braces appearance, InBrace hidden braces may be the perfect appliance choice for you! Using the latest orthodontic technology, it can accomplish your smile goals efficiently.

This discreet appliance uses a SmartWire and lays behind your teeth, providing a comfortable feel and less friction against the inside of your mouth. We use your x-rays and digital impressions to decide the best placement for each bracket. You can expect fewer appointments and no need to worry about monthly tightenings.

Clear Braces

A subtle alternative to metal braces, clear braces blend right in with your teeth to create a natural, nearly invisible appearance. They use the same technology as metal braces but are crafted with tooth-colored ceramic brackets to keep a low profile. Thanks to their stain-resistant technology, you won’t have to worry about discoloring your brackets after a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Clear braces are an excellent option for adults and older teens looking to improve their oral health.

Metal Braces

The most well-known symbol of orthodontics, metal braces are an appliance you can’t go wrong with choosing. Thanks to their affordability and tried-and-true technology to fix any complex dental issue, they have been around for years. Metal braces use brackets, wires, elastics, and additional components to shift your teeth into place by placing slight pressure on your teeth over a long period.

We also provide a metal braces option utilizing a self-ligating bracket system. Self-ligating simply means they don’t require elastic bands, allowing for a smoother experience. Even more efficient than traditional braces, they offer the latest orthodontic advances and are more comfortable than ever.
