Meet Dr. Leo
Your North Carolina Orthodontist
Hi folks! My name is Dr. Leonardo “Leo” Koerich, and I am one of the doctors at Koerich Orthodontics. I grew up in the southern part of Brazil, in a city called Florianópolis with a large, very close family all living pretty close by. I never would have thought that I would be the one in my family to leave the country and end up in North Carolina, but life takes us on some unexpected journeys sometimes, especially when you meet a special person!.

Husband and Father
After graduating, from the orthodontic program, I moved to Charlotte, got married to Lindsey, and then shortly after, completed the second round of dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. I currently work as a general dentist with my practice limited to orthodontics. I am a strong believer that patient care starts by listening and understanding people’s concerns and desires, and my goals are to connect with people and to deliver a beautiful smile. When I am not in the office, you can find me teaching my kids how to play soccer, eating at the Brazilian bakery, and hanging out with my family.

I completed my first dental degree at Federal University of Santa Catarina, which is in Florianopolis, Brazil. After graduating, I was invited to complete a one-year Post-Doc Fellowship at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where I also met my wife, Lindsey. Upon completion, I received a full scholarship for residency in Orthodontics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the first and most respected orthodontic residency in the country.

Hey, friends! My name is Dr. Lindsey Koerich, and I’m one of the doctors here at Koerich Orthodontics. Thank you for visiting! I grew up in the little town of Granite Falls, which is close to Hickory, North Carolina. From Granite Falls, I went on to get my bachelor of science degree and dental degree in Chapel Hill at the University of North Carolina, and then onto New York for part of my post-graduate education at Columbia University.

Wife and Mother
I am proud of being down to earth, approachable, and patient. I value being able to provide excellent treatment outcomes and a genuinely friendly and caring experience for the families we treat. Being treated like a fellow human being is really what it’s all about, isn’t it? Being an orthodontist is the best job ever! I love the challenges we face, I love being around all of our fun patients, and I love to keep learning and honing my craft. In fact, every year I spend a lot of weekends going to continuing education courses to stay ahead of the curve and to be able to continue providing the best and most up-to-date care to you. I am so looking forward to meeting you and giving you and your children an uplifting and positive braces (or Invisalign®) experience!

After getting into my dream school for orthodontic residency, I moved back to Chapel Hill to complete my three-year Master’s degree in orthodontics at UNC-Chapel Hill. Through my life’s experiences, I have had the chance to interact with all kinds of people from different walks of life, but how I treat people really goes back to my roots. Where I am from, southern hospitality and being kind to one another is a way of life.

Sydney
Lead Clinical Assistant
Sydney is our team lead here at Koerich Orthodontics. She does a little of everything from Treatment Coordinator, to Clinical Assisting, to working front desk. Sydney is engaged to her fiancé Trevor who is actively serving in the US Navy. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, shopping (everything cheetah print) and going on adventures with Trevor. Sydney is 100% committed to making sure your experience here at Koerich Orthodontics is nothing short of exceptional!
Shannon
Front Desk Coordinator
Shannon is our front desk coordinator here at Koerich Orthodontics. She loves greeting and getting to know our wonderful patients along with the many duties and tasks that front desk entails. She comes to us with many years’ experience in general and pediatric dentistry. She is happily married to her husband Ron. She has two loving children Brooke and Trevor. She is originally from Michigan and her and Ron are loving North Carolina, especially the winters! Shannon enjoys spending time with her grown children, hiking, spending time at the beach, and her new puppy named Chance.
Jenny
Assistant
Jenny is an assistant here at Koerich Orthodontics. She is married to her high school sweetheart. She has two beautiful children and an adorable dog named Roxy. She is quite the baker and the crafty one of the office. Jenny enjoys spending time with her family, serving her community, listening to music and traveling to the beach and the mountains.
Kelly
Assistant
Kelly is our latest assistant to the Koerich Orthodontics crew! She has many years’ experience working in orthodontics and loves working with people. She is a mother of three beautiful children and many fur babies. Kelly has a huge heart for rescue animals. When Kelly is not working at Koerich Orthodontics, you can find her and her husband camping, watching Nascar, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers!
Kandace
Front Desk
Kandace is one of our front desk here at Koerich Orthodontics. She enjoys working in the dental field and loves seeing the transformation of our patients’ smiles and confidence. She is excited for her upcoming wedding to her high school sweetheart Matt. Kandace enjoys spending time outdoors whether it is at the beach or the mountains, as well as spending time with her fiancé Matt and their families. We are thrilled to have her apart of our Koerich Orthodontics team!
